Eclipse and Eclipse SE Comparison
For many law firms,
litigation review is the most time consuming and expensive portion of
litigation, making up approximately 70% of the total costs of document
production. To alleviate this pain, IPRO has developed powerful litigation
review applications purpose-built with cutting-edge features which allow law
firms to streamline their workflow, reduce inefficiency and save time and money
throughout the review process. While Eclipse SQL is a web-based review
application intended for enterprise-wide deployment, Eclipse SE is perfect for
firms looking to implement an advanced in-house review platform that can fit
into their current infrastructure. Service Providers have the option to host
using Eclipse SQL or resell Eclipse SE for clients looking for alternatives.
Eclipse SQL
Eclipse SQL is a
feature-rich review platform that allows for collaborative attorney review of
image or native files over a network or internet connection. Eclipse SQL
combines proven advanced analytic technology with standard linear workflow to
help achieve the most efficient review while gaining the best understanding of
your case evidence. Using the advanced analytics functionality found in the
Eclipse SQL review application to prioritize and predict responsive documents,
law firms are able to complete better reviews quickly and defensibly.
Eclipse SE
Eclipse SE is an in-house
discovery, review, and production platform built to handle any size case and any
number of users within your current infrastructure, without requiring a SQL
server or dedicated DBA. The high-speed, self-contained database found in
Eclipse SE handles native file ingestion, unitization, document review,
transcript management and full production effortlessly, offering a true
all-n-one litigation platform.

SQL is a Microsoft
product, whereas Btree is proprietary. SQL will have functionality that
is both limited and limitless. Btree allows IPRO to develop
functionality that SQL products wouldn’t be able to do. |

<10M Records |
While SE has that
limit of less than 10M records, I have yet to work on a case that’s
reached that. You would definitely want to get the SQL version for any
cases reaching that number, probably for different reasons, such as Web
capability. |

Allegro / eCapture |
eScan-IT |
Allegro and
eCapture are optimized to work seamlessly with SQL, since they too are
SQL products. Both software will work with SE, but you will need to
export data, then import it into SE. On the other hand, eScanIT has been
optimized to work seamlessly with SE. |

SE can
import/ingest PST files and MSG files, where it processes metadata
appropriately; as well as a large list of a variety of file types. SQL
cannot. You will need to purchase an ingestion/processing tool (if
needed to process files internally), or outsource such, for the SQL
version. SQL is often paired with industry-best tools, like eCapture
and/or Allegro. |
